Flight Performance and Planning is one of the more calculation-heavy PPL(A) subjects. You compute mass and balance, read charts, and plan fuel.
Success comes from method: the same workflow on every problem, instead of guessing from a graph under time pressure.
Why Flight Performance is calculation-heavy
A vague idea is not enough. You must pull the right value from a table or graph without mixing units or conditions (temperature, pressure, wind).

Reading performance charts without rushing
Always start with the axes and input conditions, then follow the lines methodically. Practise on paper first, then verify with a quiz question — that habit survives exam pressure.
Fuel reserves and time management on calc questions
Tie fuel planning to the route (Navigation). In the exam, if a calculation drags on, flag it and return — saving easier marks beats stalling on one chart.
