Communications PPL study guide — radio phraseology and procedures

Communications is shorter than most subjects but still requires precision. You need to know standard phraseology, radio equipment, and the procedures for normal and emergency situations.

Study tips

Read phraseology out loud — it helps retention. Focus on the order of a standard call: who you are calling, who you are, where you are, what you want.

Exam strategy

Many questions present a radio call and ask you to identify an error or the correct response. Practise with scenario-based questions rather than rote memorisation alone.
