PPL theory exam format — ULC pass criteria explained

Before you book your PPL(A) theory sitting, you need to know how ULC runs exam sessions and what the official pass criteria are. This guide follows the authority's public rules so you can plan revision with confidence.

Exam overview

The PPL(A) theoretical knowledge exam at Poland's Civil Aviation Authority (ULC) is sat in computer-based sessions, using the national question bank under Part-FCL. Candidates sit the required tests across nine PPL(A) subjects — assessed per subject, not as one combined pass mark across the set.

Pass mark and attempt limits

Under ULC criteria / FCL.025, you pass a given test if you score at least 75% correct answers in each required subject. You get up to 4 attempts per subject. You must complete all required tests within a maximum of 6 sessions and within 18 months from the end of the calendar month in which you first sat the exam. Miss those limits and you must retake the full set of tests — after additional training at an ATO.
